
Donna L. Draves has been practicing law in Florida for over 33 years. She grew up in New York and Colorado and attended the University of Colorado (Music), University of Wisconsin (Psychology) and University of Florida (Foreign Languages) for undergraduate studies. She earned her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin in 1970 and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida College of Law in 1976. She was admitted as a member of the Florida Bar in 1977 and was admitted to practice before the Federal Court of the Middle District of Florida in 1982. She is also certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Family Mediator. In 1984, Ms. Draves studied International and Comparative Law in Paris, France and is fluent in French.
Ms. Draves practices in the following areas: Business Law, Corporate Law, Contracts, Entertainment Law, International Law, Wills and Family Law. Her clients include individuals, corporations and limited liability companies, many of which have been clients of Ms. Draves for over 25 years. She has handled their business negotiations and transactions ranging from new business set-up, to reviewing and drafting contracts. She handles dissolutions of marriage, prenuptial/postnuptial agreements, wills, living wills, health care surrogates, powers of attorney, mediation and litigation.
In the entertainment industry, Ms. Draves has represented actors, news reporters, models, singers, musicians/bands, songwriters, agents, athletes, managers, producers, costume designers, set designers, writers/screenwriters, publishers, makeup artists, stuntmen, impersonators, mimes, and owners of television and radio stations.
Memberships include: The American Bar Association, The Florida Bar, Orange County Bar Association (Chairman of the International Law Committee, 2002-2004), Central Florida Association of Women Lawyers, The Florida Academy of Professional Mediators, International Bar Association (London, England), Union Internationale des Avocats (Paris, France), British American Chamber of Commerce and the International Legal Fraternity of Phi Delta Phi.
Ms. Draves is active in the community and was the founder/president of the Orlando Chapter of Variety-the Children’s Charity, a worldwide children’s charity organized in 1927 of which she still serves on the Board of Directors. In 2011 Ms. Draves was awarded the prestigious Gold Heart Award from the Variety Club for her service to the community. In 2003, she served as an Adjunct Professor for the Sports and Entertainment Law Course at the Honors College, University of Central Florida. Ms. Draves has taught at two summer Family Law Practicum courses at the University of Florida College of Law. She has given numerous presentations and has been interviewed on television and radio on various topics.
